Affordable Housing Victory in Grants Pass

Rogue Action Center director Michelle Glass urges the council to approve 52 new units of affordable housing.

Through a combination of community support including some amazing last minute letters of support submitted by disability rights and affordable housing advocates from around the region, educational comments from partners like AllCare, and a strong letter from the Department of Land Conservation and Development (DLCD), the city council voted 5-1 to reverse the denial of the project and approve it instead.

This is significant since the last large affordable housing development proposed in Grants Pass was defeated due to not enough community support. At one point in the council meeting one of the city councilors actually said on the record that he was surprised by how much support there was for the project.

When we show up we can shift policy to benefit our community for years to come. Thank you for helping to make sure 52 new affordable units can move forward in Grants Pass!

With gratitude, The RAC Team
