Rogue Action Center grows organizing power and leaders for a more just and sustainable Southern Oregon.

Rogue Action Center builds community power for Housing Justice, Racial Justice, and Queer & Trans Liberation. We do so through base building, youth-centered leadership development, coalition building, and campaigns to change the rules.

Vision & Values

Rogue Action Center envisions Jackson & Josephine Counties where impacted communities (including working class people, BIPOC, Youth and LGBTQ+ people) can STAY, THRIVE & FIGHT for this place

Intersectionality

Recognizing the different spaces and places that people come from, how oppression affects them, and how structures affect everyone differently…finding ways that our programs can support multiple values / goals / prioritized community members at once.

Community Building

Rogue Action Center values bringing people together to form lasting connections through the work we do. Community Building is rooted in the belief that we are stronger together. Requires trust and patience with each other towards our collective future.

Decolonization

Actively dismantling colonial structures, systems and beliefs in order to make space for healing. This requires  recognition and acceptance of the reality of colonial history and their impacts on people today. Decolonization is movement towards unlearning capitalism and colonialism. It must have real, tangible impacts that support Indigenous Peoples.

About RAC

Rogue Action Center (RAC) was founded in 2017 as a community-based organizing group to effectively confront entrenched power structures rooted in white supremacy and to be a movement partner in the long-term effort to make long-term change on the socioeconomic challenges our local communities face. Historically, RAC has responded to local organizing needs in Jackson and Josephine Counties as they arise. As we’ve grown, we have developed a particular focus on youth leadership development, policy work, LGBTQ+ community building, and disaster relief and preparedness.

Land Acknowledgment

Land acknowledgements are one small part of disrupting and dismantling colonial structures. To recognize the land is an expression of gratitude and appreciation to those whose territory you reside on, and a way of honoring the Indigenous peoples who have been and are living and working on the land from time immemorial. In our desire for collective liberation and healing, we acknowledge that we are located within the ancestral homelands of the Cayuse, Umatilla, Walla Walla, Shasta, Takelma, Cow Creek Umpqua, Modoc, Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde, and Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians. There may be many more ancestral connections to this place that have not yet been named and we welcome them home when they return. This country and its wealth was built on stolen Indigenous land with enslaved African peoples by government supported White settlers. Many people and their cultures still survive and resist despite the intentional and ongoing attempts to destroy them. Rogue Action Center is committed to honoring, acknowledging and acting in solidarity with the original caretakers of this land.
